Account information. Your name, email address, and the backer number or access code used to create your account.

Technical data. Your IP address, browser type and version, device type and the pages you view, recorded in standard server logs for security and reliability.

Reading activity. Which issues and pages you open, so the Archive can resume where you left off and so we can detect automated or abusive access.

7. Where your information is processed

We are based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed there, including by the service providers listed in Section 6.

If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, this means your information is handled in a country whose data protection laws differ from your own. We apply this policy, and the rights set out in Section 10, to you wherever you are.

Where we send your information to a service provider, we do so under written terms that require them to protect it, to process it only on our instructions, and to apply appropriate security measures.

You can ask us for more detail about these arrangements by emailing legal@fangoria.com.

8. How long we keep it

Account data: while your account is active, and for 2 years afterwards.

Server logs: 90 days.

Reading activity: 12 months.

PDF download records: 3 years.

Correspondence: 3 years.

9. Security

Access requires an account. Page images are served through signed, expiring URLs and are not publicly accessible. Passwords are hashed. Traffic is encrypted in transit.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, restrict or object to our processing of your information, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it.

UK, EU and EEA residents have these rights under the GDPR and may complain to their supervisory authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

California residents have rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still exercise the other rights. We will not discriminate against you for doing so.

Other US states with comprehensive privacy laws confer similar rights, and we extend them to all residents of those states.

To exercise any right, email legal@fangoria.com. We will verify your identity before acting and respond within the time the applicable law allows.

One limitation, stated plainly: deleting your account does not recall PDF editions you have already downloaded. Those files remain subject to the PDF Edition Licence.

11. Additional disclosures

We do not collect sensitive personal information as that term is defined under the CPRA.

We do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We use automated checks only to detect scraping, credential sharing and abuse.

Opt-out preference signals. We honour the Global Privacy Control. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing for the signal to opt you out of, but we recognise it.

Nevada residents may direct us not to sell their personal information. We do not sell it. To submit a request, email legal@fangoria.com.

California "Shine the Light." We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

Deleting your account. Email legal@fangoria.com and we will close your account and delete the associated data, subject to the retention limitation in Section 10.

Third-party links. The Archive may link to other sites. This policy does not cover them.

12. Data breach notification

If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law, without undue delay.

13. Children

The Archive is not intended for anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact legal@fangoria.com and we will delete it.

14. Changes

We will post changes here and, if material, email your account address.
